Perimenopause: The Storm Before the Calm

Perimenopause is the transitional period before menopause in which hormone production fluctuates wildly, leading to changes in menstrual cycles, hot flashes, mood swings, bone changes, and a decreased sense of well-being. This transition may begin as early as age 35 or as late as 59 and can last up to 8 years.
